Center for Wildlife (CFW) was founded in 1986 in York, ME when a local veterinarian recognized the lack of municipal, state, or federal programming or funding for the medical care of injured or orphaned wild animals.
Mission: to build a sustainable future for wildlife in our community through medical treatment, rehabilitation, educational outreach, research, and conservation activities.
Today, with funding from the community, CFW:
• Manages over 1,650 cases each year, representing more than 150 species of native wildlife
• Provides environmental education outreach programs with live animal ambassadors to over 5,000 individuals each year
• Runs a Wildlife Assistance Hotline providing guidance to over 12,000 callers annually
• Collaborates with state, federal, private, and non-profit agencies to ensure regional wildlife care and management
CFW’s medical clinic is open every day for animal admissions only. To learn more, book a tour, or find out about upcoming public programs please visit: www.yorkcenterforwildlife.org.
