DDC of Georgia is a not-profit microboard, incorporated in the State of Georgia for persons with developmental disabilities. A microboard is defined as a small group (micro) of committed family and friends joined together with a person with developmental disabilities to create a non-profit society (board). These entities utilize a person-centered planning approach to offer choice and independence for individuals with disabilities and their families.
The overall goal is to provide individually focused programs and services to help individuals overcome deficits and become as independent as possible. We promote person-centered planning, as our target population has the right to chose in maximizing physical, social, psychological, intellectual, and emotional potential for productive lifestyle alongside their neighboring community members. DDC of Georgia’s actual mission statement reads: Empowering young adults to achieve lifelong successes, to provide developmentally disabled young adults with a residential alternative enabling him/her to adapt in a home of their own within a community setting by providing direct supportive services tailored specifically for their needs, desires, and dreams within their home and community.
