Plymouth 400 commemorates the 1620 landing of the Mayflower in Plymouth, Massachusetts, by highlighting the cultural contributions and traditions that began with the interaction of the Wampanoag Nation and the Pilgrims. Plymouth 400 advances the celebrations leading up to and including 2020. It commemorates the landing of the Pilgrims in 1620 and all historical events thereafter regionally, nationally and internationally, promoting all activities and historical attributes of a civic, social and cultural nature which are related to the local Native American history, homeland, community and people; and supporting organizations and activities that enhance the celebration locally and globally. It works to create a commemoration that is historically accurate, culturally inclusive, and preserves the historical integrity of the Plymouth Area while supporting the development of necessary infrastructure needed to support the 2020 Celebration and activities by creating a better understanding and appreciation of all cultural assets; and encouraging and supporting the enhancement and preservation of infrastructure needed to support such a celebration on issues affecting the general welfare and prosperity of the Plymouth region including but not limited to that of transportation, facilities, historical sites and events, so that citizens locally and nationally as well as those visiting us from around the world can share in the celebration.
