I began at Shoes That Fit as the secretary to the founder. After a year, I was promoted to Program Manager, and when the founder retired in 2002, I also began writing all grants for the organization in addition to my duties as Program Manager. I am now the Development Director and work with Ms. Roni Lomeli who has been our E.D. since 2003. My previous jobs were owning a real estate company, and teaching grade school music. Shoes That Fit is an easy cause to fundraise for, and I've had much success with grant awards because of the efficiency and effectiveness of delivery of important shoes and clothing items to children in need for school. Except for in-kind donations, I've had the good fortune to raise from 50% to 60% of Shoes That Fit annual income each year since I began writing grants. I work with 4 other very talented women, and we seem to be a good fit, enjoy each other's company, and work hard to help children go to school in comfort and with dignity.
