Rising Confidence in Online Ed—Fundraising Edit Title

I have always been fascinated by the concept of online education. Ever since the founding of Coursera and edX. I had an opportunity to collaborate with Grameen Foundation Bankers Without Borders in Washington D.C in supporting an online learning course platform system and training through the use of online videos and webinars where one could be able to track their own learning.

Online education is steadily gaining and expanding as a trustworthy alternative to the traditional classroom and chalkboard. According to the most recent Gallup report, more U.S. adults agree or strongly agree that online colleges and universities offer high-quality education (37 percent) than did so in 2012 (33 percent) or 2011 (30 percent) when Gallup first introduced the report.

Although far more Americans agree that community colleges and traditional universities offer quality education increasing users trust in online education is evidently growing. EdX was founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University in May 2012. One of its slogans is -Online courses from the world's best universities.

This year alone, the Internet grown so vastly and provided us all with alternatives to the traditional sense of education. One of these alternative forms of education has been online learning through the use of online videos. Recently YouTube has been focusing on online learning. An increasing number of channels have exploded in growth in this past year alone, providing viewers an entertaining way of gaining knowledge. Today's topics cover a wide spectrum, ranging from Music, Science, Statistics,History, how to videos and on occasion a viral funny video.

Online education allows the platform for educators whose, short, to the point videos that are easily understandable with visuals of narration that allow even the inexperienced learner to "delve right in" into some of the most difficult technical topics to gain in popularity and following.

When it comes to fundraising you can find an array of instructional YouTube videos on annual giving, major gifts ask, and planned giving. Saving these videos in your playlist and subscribing to the channel is a great way to later share with fundraising staff and colleagues.

However there is plenty of room for growth and opportunity for those who are fundraising professionals to establish a dedicated YouTube channel that exclusively focuses on some of the more technical fundraising principles and topics. Such as practical experience with Moves Management, Charitable Gift Annuities, and setting up a Planned Giving Advisory Council or other equally important topics that are covered by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Certified Fund Raising Executive International (CFRE).

If you have a wealth of knowledge, experience, and training in fundraising it might be perfect timing for you to have your own YouTube channel and share with the world in a very insightful, creative, and engaging way. There are plenty of students out there ready to learn.

Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents more than 30,000 members in over 230 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.

Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) Founded in 2001, CFRE International is an independent nonprofit organization whose sole mission is dedicated to setting standards in philanthropy through a valid and reliable certification process for fundraising professionals.
