Riverview Center is a nonprofit agency committed to providing free, compassionate, client-centered care for individuals affected by sexual and domestic violence in the tri-state area. Regardless of means, our clients receive high-quality, professional services, including a 24-hour crisis hotline, legal, medical, and social services advocacy, counseling by master’s degree level therapists, transition assistance for domestic violence survivors, and violence prevention education programming. Our education programs are available to all area schools, community groups, and businesses. Riverview Center is creating a community free of violence by empowering individuals, fostering empathy, and developing social skills that emphasize respect, equality, and non-violent conflict resolution. Riverview Center was founded in 1992 when several sexual assault cases in Jo Daviess County resulted in blatant disrespect towards the survivors, which highlighted the lack of services for sexual assault victims. The lack of prosecution and services was unacceptable to our two founders who witnessed these gaps through their positions at the police station and a mental health facility. Riverview Center’s services are available in Jo Daviess and Carroll Counties, Illinois, and Dubuque, Delaware, and Buchanan Counties in Iowa. In 2010, Riverview Center began providing domestic violence services in in Jo Daviess and Carroll Counties, Illinois.
