In Southbourne, a group of volunteers whose main goal is to save lives and to create a safe and healthier community has been gaining attention and recognition from the residents.
Southbourne Surf Life Saving Club is a network of volunteer beach lifesavers started in 1986. Today, a lot of active youths started joining their purpose and are very much motivated and interested in beach education and rescue and fitness skills. Surf Life Saving GB is a Search and Rescue Charity with more than 5,000 members and affiliated to 80 Surf Life Saving Clubs helping to make beaches a safe haven for beach goers. It is the awarding body for the highest standard of Beach Lifeguard Qualification in the country as well as the National Governing Body for Life Saving Sport.
