Sam Frank founded Synthesis Partnership to advise non-profit organizations in strategy, planning and organizational development. The largest share of his practice is devoted strategic planning, but he also works with clients on board governance, change management, facility, program and business planning, and training.
In 2009 he co-founded Nonprofit Webinars and since then has hosted Wednesday Webinars, a weekly professional development series for trustees and staff of nonprofit organizations. These webinars attract attendees from all 50 states and 6 continents—over 20,000 individuals—many of whom have returned frequently for additional webinars. His own presentations in the series have covered strategic and integrated planning, governance, mission statements, metrics, and facility planning.
Sam writes a quarterly e-newsletter, Critical Issues in Strategy, Planning and Organizational Development (http://bit.ly/SyParchive). He has served on the boards of non-profit organizations addressing the arts, education, the environment, health care, preservation, and homelessness. He has offered workshops on strategic, business, and integrated planning at many national and regional conferences of nonprofit associations.
Before founding Synthesis Partnership Sam was Director of Architecture and Design at Corning Incorporated, and Dean of Architecture and Design at Rhode Island School of Design. He was educated in English literature at Princeton University, architecture at Harvard University, and architectural history, theory and criticism at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
