Nonprofit Boards & Effective Governance Edit Title
Wed, Dec 09, 2015 at 1pm EDT / 10am PDT Edit Date
The nonprofit governing board has been described as an ineffective group of effective people. Why do nonprofits so broadly fail to use their boards wisely? And how might they do better? This webinar will touch upon a comprehensive range of issues in a way that will be relevant to almost every nonprofit board. We will look at four interrelated areas: membership (including recruitment, development, self-assessment), process (including structure, meetings), capacity, and fiduciary concerns.
- How to assemble an effective board.
- How to structure and operate a board effectively.
- How to engage trustees and increase mutual satisfaction.
- Specific tools and resources that will increase board effectiveness.

Thanks for the presentation today on nonprofit board governance.
It was a good review. The steps for self assessment and re-energizing, on an annual basis, are good for both individuals and the boards we are passionate about. I'll recommend these 4good webinars to others.
- Happy Holidays

Thank you for providing these webinars - as the solo staff of a small non-profit, I don't have the resources (time or budget) to travel for training and am extremely grateful to get such quality from an hour at my desk!

I enjoyed the webinar but am disappointed to find - after signing up for a free webinar - that I have to pay for the archived version. If I had known at the outset, I would have taken notes.

I thought this was an excellent overview of the governance tools that non-profits could use to improve Board function and contribution. While I'm sure organizations of any size could benefit from the content, I found it particularly helpful for an organization like ours which is small/medium and has been in existence for at least a few years but is still struggling to get the most out of its Board.

Outstanding information and presentation. If only all Boards operated utilizing these parameters - there'd be a lot more successful non-profits then!
