Strategic Planning Part 1: Cultivation & Organizational Development Edit Title
Wed, Mar 16, 2016 at 1pm EDT / 10am PDT Edit Date
Strategic planning should be a means not only to produce a strategy, but also to engage and cultivate stakeholders, develop leadership, and generate new energy, commitment and consensus around mission. Its primary product is not a written plan, but strategic thinking within the organization, which is achieved through a process of rigorous planning followed by a process of implementation. A well-conceived and managed planning process can be the most effective form of organizational development.
• What benefits to expect from an effective strategic planning process
• How to approach and structure a strategic planning process that will work for your organization.
• How to get broad buy-in in any organization
• Tools to use for assessing your situation, engaging your constituencies, developing an effective plan, and implementing it

The presenter of this webinar covered a lot of information that seemed to be useful for a mid-to-large sized organization. I'm not sure if all the info would apply to a smaller organization like the one I'm representing here. Perhaps another webinar more specific to a smaller organization would be a good idea. Anyway, I found the webinar to be interesting although I began to grow tired of it around the 40 minute mark.

I enjoyed a good seminar on strategic planning. Too often we forget the need for a process that can save headaches later.

A little hard for a staff of one with a large volunteer board to do everything suggested. BUT, still worth the time to hear and gain new ideas.

Very well organized. Broke down steps to take in easy to follow and accomplish ways. I have a much better understanding of who to involve at what stage.
