Simone is a classic small-nonprofit accidental techie. In 1999, she began designing and building custom database solutions in FileMaker Pro to meet contact, archive, and client management needs for the small law office at which she was a paralegal. In 2001, she started working with Innovation Network, Inc. (the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit evaluation, research, and consulting firm), mostly as a writer. She gradually accrued web- and IT-related duties, and in 2007 she discovered that she was the senior IT person on staff. She is now the knowledge manager, IT manager, webmaster, lead editor, and design &production lead. Her tech cred is all from her decade of experience; her formal education is unrelated (for the record, she holds a BA in Medieval Languages & Literatures from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut). She is an active member of NTEN, the Nonprofit Technology Network, and she presented at the 2010 Nonprofit Technology Conference in Atlanta.
