YDI’s mission is to help children, youth, and families achieve their full potential. YDI works with youth who live in high poverty communities and whose lives are jeopardized by drug trafficking, alcohol, gangs, unemployment, poor education, and violence at home and in the neighborhood.
YDI is a multi-service agency with more than fifty (50) program components offering an array of services from early intervention and prevention to highly structured, intensive, residential, and education services through four major divisions: Early Childhood Education/ Head Start Division that operates 37 Head Start centers in the Albuquerque area and Northern New Mexico; Educational Support Division which provides educational services and support to school districts, charter schools and other community agencies; Education, Employment and Training Division serves Central New Mexico by providing a wide variety of alternative education and workforce development services like GED preparation, school to work, tutoring, and homework assistance, workforce literacy skills and certification and Prevention, Intervention and Treatment Division providing an array of services for children, youth and families in central and northern New Mexico including an outreach program and center for runaway and homeless youth, gang prevention, substance abuse intervention and independent living programs for young people.
